(Reserve) 5. Tour Montparnasse. Sunset is 9pm We are not your early birds, that’s for sure! We decided to go to Musee de la Liberation de Paris in the 14th. Easy to get there via Metro. The museum is free. But if you want to see the underground bunker (which you do), you have to get a timed ticket, which we did on arrival at 1245. It left us 45 minutes to explore before the bunker tour. That took about 30 minutes and was fascinating—they gave us tablets that woke up in each room to tell the story. Well done once I figured out the tech. Back upstairs, we walked around the exhibits until 430pm. And we still didn’t see everything! This is a fascinating, enthralling, extremely engaging museum. We need to go back! I had wanted to wander in the Montparnasse cemetery and find the graves of some famous folks but it closed at 4pm and we needed refreshments. So we chose Chez Maurice and had wine and beer and French fries. Nice break. It was still early and the Fondation Cartier was still open so we headed there, not knowing what to expect from their exhibition. Loved it! The garden and exhibits in the garden were very cool. And inside was modern, light filled, and the artist’s interpretation of whatever he was thinking was very interesting. Really enjoyed it! Would definitely go to another exhibit there. We made
our way back to the 16th via Metro. Decided on Le Bois for dinner,
which was very good. The staff there are so nice and welcoming. Feels like a
fun, neighborhoody place. Lovely
day. |
