Friday 4/28 |
AM: St. Germain
le Auxerois (9am-730pm), La Samaritaine (10am-8pm), 12pm: Capitale 60 yrs of Street Art exhibit at Hotel de
Ville, r.d. Lobau, free & reserved 10 mins walk to restaurant
Lunch: 1pm Le Sergent Recruter, ISL Jardin des Plantes Grande Gallerie de l’Evolution (special exhibit on felines!) Cross Pont d’Austerlitz to Rue Cremieux The stomach issues seemed to be resolved. So we kept our reservation at Le Sergent Recruter. We got to Isle de la Cite with a few minutes to spare before the reservation so wandered around Notre Dame and Ile Saint-Louis. So pretty! This
was our 3rd time at Le Sergent Recruter and were sat right by the
kitchen window. We started at the farthest table and made our way to the
cat-bird seat, lol. The tall, maybe German server, with great English, seemed
to remember us from our previous visits. The sommelier picks nice wines but
doesn’t speak much English. We had the degustation menu and everything was
quite good. They had us taste test a new dessert which was very good. But I
still missed my favorite dessert, the tarte of chocolate and caramel. After lunch, we stopped in at the very pretty Eglise-Saint-Louis-en-isle, and Square Beyre and the park along the river, on our way to the Jardin des Plantes. I wanted to tour the Felines Exhibit at the Grande Galerie de l’Evolution but had not pre-booked and they were sold out. Enjoyed walking around the park snapping pictures of all the tulips while husband rested on a bench. We crossed the river into the 12th toward Rue Cremieux, Instagram famous for its pastel colored houses. I thought it was cute but husband was bothered that tourists were upsetting the street’s inhabitants by coming to take pictures. Fair. We turned the corner and stopped at Le Café de Lyon to grab drinks on the sidewalk and people watch. After this respite, we headed back across the river to the RER station at Gare de Austerlitz, and took it to the Orsay. After saying hello to the Ladies of the Orday (statues, lol) outside, we walked along the river, admiring all the beautiful buildings, to Pont Alexandre III. Admired the views over the Seine to the Eiffel Tower. Made our way to the RER C station at Invalides and took it to the apartment. It was an early night as we were home by 745 and I was relaxing on the balcony with wine and my kindle a few minutes later. The sunset at 9pm was spectacular! Lovely day! |
